THE ‘EASIEST’ FINAL QUESTION CHANGED EVERYTHING. The 1% Club Finale Sparked A Huge Divide As One Seemingly Simple Puzzle Left Viewers Arguing Over Whether It Was Brilliantly Clever Or Completely Unfair

The 1% Club has built its reputation on one promise: by the end of each episode, only the sharpest logical thinkers should have any chance of solving the notorious 1% question. But the latest episode left many fans asking whether the show’s toughest challenge was actually… far too easy.

The ITV hit returned with its brand-new Rollover format, raising the stakes like never before. Instead of unclaimed prize money disappearing, it now carries over to the next episode, allowing the jackpot to keep growing throughout the week. Contestants who survive to the 1% question also earn the opportunity to return the following night, potentially playing for as much as £500,000 by Friday.

The new twist immediately added extra tension, with players forced to decide whether to bank guaranteed cash or gamble for an even bigger payday in later episodes.

By the closing stages, only contestant Chris remained standing. Rather than attempting the final puzzle, he made the strategic decision to take home £10,000 and return for another chance at the expanding jackpot.

That left viewers at home staring at the episode’s infamous 1% question.

Contestants were shown a 5×5 grid that should have contained every number from 1 to 25 exactly once. Because of a printing mistake, however, one number appeared twice while another was missing. The challenge was simply to identify both numbers.

When the solution was revealed—18 had been repeated, while 19 was missing—the reaction online was immediate.

Instead of praising the puzzle’s difficulty, many fans argued it was one of the easiest final questions the series had ever produced.

Social media quickly filled with comments from viewers insisting they had spotted the answer almost instantly.

Several questioned how so many contestants had already been eliminated earlier in the game, while others joked that the supposedly elite 1% puzzle took only a few seconds to solve from their living rooms. Some even described it as the easiest question of the entire episode rather than the hardest.

Fans of The 1% Club, hosted by Lee Mack, were left baffled after the show returned with a new spin-off twist as the final question of the episode was 'so easy' they 'got it straight away'.

The gameshow tasks 100 players with surviving increasingly difficult rounds of logic-based questions to reach the final 1% question

The criticism isn’t the first time The 1% Club has found itself at the center of a difficulty debate.

A previous finale sparked similar controversy after players were asked to decode Bonnie’s escape vehicle from the sentence:

“Meet me at the gazebo atop the hill after 11am.”

The hidden answer was boat, concealed across the words gazebo atop. Although finalists on the show failed to solve it, countless viewers later claimed they recognized the pattern almost immediately, leading to another wave of complaints that the famous 1% question no longer felt worthy of its reputation.

Ironically, these reactions highlight what makes The 1% Club so unusual. The show’s puzzles aren’t based on intelligence alone—they rely heavily on pattern recognition. A question that completely stumps contestants under intense studio pressure can seem obvious to viewers calmly watching from home, who have no money at stake and no countdown clock amplifying every second.

Whether the latest finale was genuinely too easy or simply looked that way from the sofa, one thing is certain: The 1% Club continues to get people talking. And for a quiz show built around making audiences believe they could do better than the contestants, that ongoing debate may be exactly the point.
