Princess Kate is growing concerned that the ongoing tension between Prince William and King Charles could affect their family and the future of the monarchy, and a source exclusively tells Closer that she’s urging her husband to rein in his anger before it causes lasting damage.
“Kate knows William only wants what’s best for the monarchy, but the problem is he and Charles have very different views on how to get there,” the source says.
The source adds that William, 44, thinks Charles, 77, should have taken a firmer stance with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor following the disgraced royal’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew, 66, was arrested in February on claims that he had shared confidential information with the late convicted sex offender when he worked as a trade envoy. He wasn’t charged with any crimes and he was released from jail the same day.
Andrew has long denied any wrongdoing in relation to his friendship with the financier.
To make matters worse, the source says that William has also been unhappy with his father’s efforts to reconcile with his younger brother, Prince Harry.

“Now that Charles has gone against his advice again and has decided to pursue a peace truce with Harry, he’s even more convinced that his father’s judgment is way off,” the source explains. “He’ll always be respectful in public, but behind closed doors he’s constantly pointing out all the things he would’ve handled differently.”
While the source says that Kate, also 44, “completely understands his frustration,” she also feels like his anger toward Harry, 41, “now seems to be aimed at his own father” and the situation is eventually going to boil over.
And Charles and William are not doing a great job hiding the tension between them, notes the source.
“She’s worried now people inside the palace are starting to notice how at odds they are, and her fear is that it won’t be long before the public finds out,” the source explains. “That’s certainly not the message she wants the monarchy to be sending. She just wants him to step back and see the bigger picture before the damage becomes much harder to undo.”
