Meghan Markle ‘upstaged’ on her birthday as her fans claim Royal ‘revenge’

Buckingham Palace issued a significant statement regarding the Royal Family while Meghan Markle was celebrating her birthday, in what many royal fans have described as “revenge”.
The Duchess of Sussex turns 45 today (August 4) and shared a photograph to mark the occasion, however royal fans claim her post has since been “upstaged”, with the Royal Family accused of deliberately holding back the announcement.
The royals today revealed that a new addition had been welcomed into the family, after Princess Eugenie gave birth to her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank yesterday (August 3) in Portugal.
This is the couple’s first daughter, following the arrival of their sons August and Ernest, and it is understood the pair are taking time to settle on a name.
Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday August 3 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.”
“The baby was born weighing 6lb 9oz. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
The official announcement was subsequently followed by Eugenie sharing a photograph on her Instagram account alongside a short but sweet message.
The decision to withhold news of the birth until Meghan’s birthday the following day has led some royal fans to view it as “revenge” over the Duchess of Sussex previously revealing significant news at a public event years prior.
The Queen and other senior royals were informed of the pregnancy on Friday, when members of the Royal Family had gathered in Windsor for Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

Back in 2018, at the wedding of Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank, Meghan revealed the news of her pregnancy with Archie to senior members of the Royal Family.
One royal fan posted on X: “The great announcement came today on what would be Meghan Markle ‘s 45th birthday. Meghan announced her pregnancy at Eugenie’s wedding.”
Another commented: “This coincidence has actually made me believe, that the Royals believe revenge is a dish served cold. Meghan announces her pregnancy at Eugenie’s wedding. Now Eugenie and Jack, the Palace publish a photo of their beautiful baby, not long after Meg drops her bday snaps (sic)”.
A third user added: “Eugenie finally paid Meghan Markle back for announcing her surrogates pregnancy on Eugenie’s wedding day.”
