Princess Beatrice was born on August 8, 1988, at 8.18pm. Her parents, Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, were reportedly delighted with the birth of their first child at the Portland Hospital. Andrew, who was a prince at the time, was present for the birth. Beatrice was christened the same year she was born, when she was just a few months old, at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

Princess Beatrice was always known to be close with her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, right up until her death in 2022. The princess once told people she was “very lucky” to have the late Queen as her grandmother. She also released a heartbreaking joint statement after Queen Elizabeth’s death with her sister Princess Beatrice, which read: “Our dearest Grannie. We’ve not been able to put much into words since you left us all. There have been tears and laughter, silences and chatter, hugs and loneliness, and a collective loss for you, our beloved Queen, and our beloved Grannie. We, like many, thought you’d be here forever. And we all miss you terribly. We’re so happy you’re back with Grandpa. Goodbye dear Grannie, it has been the honour of our lives to have been your granddaughters and we’re so very proud of you. We know that dear Uncle Charles, the King, will continue to lead in your example as he too has dedicated his life to service. God save the King. With our love, Beatrice and Eugenie.”

Princess Beatrice has been open and honest about the struggles she faced at school. In an interview with the charity Made By Dyslexia, Beatrice once revealed: “The reason why I am so passionate about dyslexia is that, being a dyslexic person myself, I feel like I really understand that we have a responsibility to change the narrative around what we are delivering to young people in the classroom. I was very lucky, I got to go to a school that was very nurturing and very supportive. But, I would describe the actual day-to-day learning side of things as very challenging.”

When Beatrice married her husband, fondly known as Edo, in 2020, this was during the Covid-19 pandemic. This meant that the guest list was very small, and the wedding was not televised. The late Queen allowed Beatrice the honour of wearing the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara. This was the same tiara the late Queen herself wore on her wedding day in 1947.The late Queen also loaned Beatrice a dress by Norman Hartnell, which she had previously worn herself for an engagement.

Princess Beatrice is a mum of two daughters, Sienna, four, and Athena, one. Beatrice is also a stepson to her husband’s child, Wolfie. The princess is believed to enjoy being a mum and has been seen publicly with her children before at events. However, only her stepson has made official royal appearances, such as at Princess Catherine’s Christmas carol service and on the Christmas Day walkabout. It is likely her daughters will join in with these when they are older.
