Meghan Markle Eyes Major Acting Comeback in Britain as Talks Link Her to Guy Ritchie’s Netflix Hit
Meghan Markle could be preparing for her most significant return to scripted television since leaving Suits, with new reports claiming the Duchess of Sussex is in advanced talks for a role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix crime comedy The Gentlemen.
The development comes at a particularly striking moment. Meghan, 45, and Prince Harry, 41, are reportedly preparing to spend an extended period back in Britain, six years after stepping away from royal duties and relocating to North America. According to reports, the potential acting opportunity is one factor behind the couple’s decision to return.
Nothing has been officially confirmed, however, and the reported casting remains under discussion.
Meghan reportedly “very excited” about acting again

Meghan stepped away from her acting career in late 2017, shortly before marrying Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in May 2018.
Before becoming a member of the Royal Family, she was best known for playing paralegal Rachel Zane in Suits. Now, eight years after leaving acting behind, reports suggest she is enthusiastic about the possibility of returning to a major scripted production.
According to The Sun, discussions have centered on Meghan potentially joining a future third season of The Gentlemen. The newspaper reports that she could portray a seductive new character who disrupts the world surrounding the show’s aristocratic protagonists.
However, the proposed role has not been formally announced, meaning the possibility should still be treated as a reported plan rather than a confirmed casting.
Why The Gentlemen could mark a major comeback

Created by Guy Ritchie and inspired by his 2019 film of the same name, The Gentlemen combines British aristocracy with an increasingly dangerous criminal underworld.
Theo James leads the series as Eddie Horniman, the 13th Duke of Halstead, who unexpectedly inherits his family estate and discovers that it has become entangled with a cannabis operation. Kaya Scodelario stars opposite him as Susie Glass.
The first season premiered on Netflix on March 7, 2024, and proved successful enough to secure another installment. The second season is scheduled to arrive on September 3, according to the latest report, while speculation is already building around a third.
If Meghan ultimately joins that next chapter, the project would put her alongside one of British television’s most prominent current casts and give her a global platform for her scripted comeback.
The filming location creates an unexpected royal connection

Perhaps the most intriguing element of the reported opportunity is where much of The Gentlemen is filmed.
Production has used the Badminton estate in Gloucestershire, approximately seven miles from King Charles’s Highgrove residence. That would potentially place Meghan’s professional life remarkably close to the King’s private country home.
The geographical coincidence is particularly notable given Harry and Meghan’s complicated relationship with the Royal Family since their departure from royal duties in 2020.
Reports surrounding their latest plans suggest Harry’s desire to spend more time near his father is another factor in the couple’s decision to establish themselves in Britain again.
A very different chapter after Suits

Meghan’s potential return would bring her career almost full circle.
She joined Suits in 2011 and became widely known for her portrayal of Rachel Zane before leaving the legal drama in 2017. After marrying Harry, she largely moved away from conventional acting and instead pursued documentary, podcasting and lifestyle projects.
She has nevertheless remained closely connected to television.
Her post-royal projects have included the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan and the lifestyle programme With Love, Meghan. Reports also say she has a cameo in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, alongside Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
A substantial part in The Gentlemen, however, would represent something different: a genuine return to playing a fictional character in a major television drama.
Meghan already has strong ties with Netflix

The potential deal would also continue Meghan and Harry’s long-running professional relationship with Netflix.
Their Archewell production company has worked with the streamer on several projects since the Sussexes established themselves in California. That existing relationship could make Netflix a natural home for Meghan should she decide to pursue acting more seriously again.
Reports indicate that she intends to continue operating her lifestyle business, As Ever, alongside any television commitments.
In other words, a return to acting would appear to be an expansion of Meghan’s post-royal career rather than an abandonment of the businesses she has developed since moving to America.
Harry and Meghan are not abandoning California

Despite reports surrounding their return to Britain, the Sussexes are not believed to be making a complete break with the United States.
Sources cited by The Sun say the couple intend to retain their Montecito property and eventually return to California, suggesting their immediate UK plans could be temporary rather than a permanent reversal of their 2020 move.
The same reports say Harry wants to be closer to King Charles, while Meghan’s potential television work provides another practical reason for spending more time in Britain.
They are also expected to remain private individuals rather than resume duties as working members of the Royal Family.
A remarkable return to familiar territory

The timing nevertheless creates an extraordinary convergence between Meghan’s old and new lives.
Eight years after stepping away from acting to begin life within the monarchy, she could return to Britain and restart the profession that first made her famous — this time while remaining outside the working Royal Family.
And if the reported Gentlemen negotiations ultimately produce a deal, there would be an additional twist: Meghan could find herself filming a glossy British drama only a short distance from King Charles’s beloved Gloucestershire home.
For now, however, the casting remains reported rather than officially confirmed. Until Netflix, Guy Ritchie or Meghan’s representatives announce a deal, her potential role should be viewed as an intriguing possibility — albeit one that could make her return to Britain considerably more consequential than first appeared.
