Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show may be over, but viewers in New York are already seeing a new program in the time slot she left behind.

The Kelly Clarkson Show officially ended on August 31 after seven successful seasons. Now, NBC New York has filled its former 3 p.m. hour with a brand-new live news program called News Zone.

Veteran NBC 4 New York journalist Adam Kuperstein is hosting the new show, which focuses on breaking news and major stories from New York and across the country.

Kuperstein announced the launch on Instagram, calling the program a dream that had finally become reality.

“What started as a little experiment with a big idea — a way to deliver the news differently than you’ve ever seen before — is now a reality!”

He also acknowledged the unusual timing of the new program.

“Starting today, News Zone is replacing the Kelly Clarkson Show (gulp) from 3-4pm on NBC New York.”

Unlike a traditional news broadcast, News Zone is completely unscripted and takes viewers behind the scenes as the team follows major stories as they develop.

“It was always a long-shot,” Kuperstein wrote, while thanking the small team and colleagues who helped bring the project to life.

“But you’ll definitely get a peek behind the curtain, as we chase down the biggest or most interesting stories in real-time.”

The new program has already covered major stories, including the Lindsay Clancy trial and the death of a New York City subway employee.

Meanwhile, Kelly ended her talk show with an emotional final episode featuring an extended Kellyoke segment and appearances from her children, River, 12, and Remington, 10.

Clarkson previously explained that she wanted to leave the daily talk show schedule so she could spend more time with her children and focus on her family.

“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this chapter of our lives,” she said in a February statement.

Before the final episode, there had also been speculation about possible replacements for Kelly’s daytime slot. Reports linked pop star Pink as well as Olympic skating friends Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir to possible talk show projects with NBC.

However, no new daytime talk show featuring any of them had been announced for the fall 2026 season.

For now, News Zone has officially taken over Kelly’s former New York time slot, giving NBC viewers a very different kind of show to watch in the afternoon.
