Tom Pelphrey’s first Primetime Emmy win became an especially personal moment when he turned his attention from his career achievement to the family waiting for him at home.

The actor won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Robbie Prendergrast in HBO’s Task at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2026. As Pelphrey delivered his acceptance speech, his fiancée, Kaley Cuoco, watched from the audience and became visibly emotional.

“My best friend, my partner, the very pregnant Kaley Cuoco, I love you more than anything, and our family is the crown jewel of my life,” Pelphrey said.

Cuoco, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, became tearful as he spoke. Pelphrey also sent loving messages to their daughter Matilda and the baby girl they are expecting.

His win came in a competitive supporting-actor field that included Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy and Gerran Howell of The Pitt, Billy Crudup of The Morning Show, Jack Lowden of Slow Horses and Carlos-Manuel Vesga of Pluribus.

Pelphrey’s performance as Robbie Prendergrast became one of the major acting highlights for Task during its first season. Mark Ruffalo, who also starred in the series, was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The recognition also comes as Task moves forward without Pelphrey’s character. Robbie Prendergrast died before the end of the first season, while the series is set to return for Season 2.

His career has continued to build since Ozark

Pelphrey has taken on a range of television roles in recent years, appearing in Love and Death, Outer Range, A Man in Full and other projects.

His Emmy recognition for Task follows the earlier nomination for Ozark, where his performance as Ben Davis earned him his first Primetime Emmy nomination in 2022.

For Pelphrey, however, the significance of the 2026 win extended beyond another career achievement. His acceptance speech repeatedly returned to the people closest to him, particularly Cuoco and their growing family.
