Five Women Are Accused Of Being Linked To A Notorious Serial Killer In Channel 4’s Gripping New Mystery Thriller
Channel 4 has unveiled the first trailer for Hunting Alice Bell, a six-part psychological thriller that brings together familiar television faces, a disturbing murder mystery and a chilling story about the destructive power of online accusations.
Starring Death in Paradise favourite Ralf Little, Nightsleeper actress Alex Roach and Mission: Impossible star Simon Pegg, the upcoming drama centres on a terrifying question: what happens when an innocent woman is publicly branded the accomplice of a notorious serial killer?
The trailer opens with Pegg’s character, Jason Nash, an anaesthetist and convicted serial killer, watching news coverage from his prison cell. The reports reveal that the identity of his former lover and nursing accomplice, Alice Bell, has been exposed.
But the consequences of that revelation soon reach far beyond the prison walls.

An Accusation That Turns A Family’s Life Upside Down
Alex Roach plays Fran Da Silva, a married mother whose seemingly happy family life is shattered when she is accused online of being Alice Bell.
As hostility spreads, Fran finds herself facing an angry crowd gathered outside her home. Desperate to make herself heard, she insists: “I’m not her!”
Fran soon discovers that she is not the only woman being targeted by the same accusation. Four other women have also been identified as Alice Bell, leaving all five fighting to reclaim their identities and prove they have nothing to do with the notorious killer.
In the trailer, the women begin to unite against the hostility directed at them. One of them offers a simple but crucial reminder: “The most important thing is we trust in each other.”
However, their fight for justice comes with another unsettling possibility. If one of the five women really is Alice Bell, can the others afford to trust her?

What Is Hunting Alice Bell About?
Created by David Baddiel and Peter Bradshaw, Hunting Alice Bell is a six-part drama described as a psychological thriller built around a whodunnit, with elements of family drama and social satire.
The story follows Alice Bell, a former nurse who was also the lover and accomplice of a notorious anaesthetist serial killer. Now living in Britain under a new identity, Alice remains at the centre of a mystery that threatens to destroy the lives of several ordinary women.
When Fran Da Silva is identified online as Alice, her family life collapses amid a wave of public hatred. The situation becomes even more complicated when she learns that four other women have suffered the same fate.
Together, the five women set out to clear their names. Yet as they attempt to establish the truth, the possibility that one of them is concealing her real identity threatens to undermine everything they are trying to achieve.
The central mystery is not simply about discovering who Alice Bell is. It also raises questions about how quickly people can be condemned in the court of public opinion, particularly when online rumours begin spreading before the facts are established.

A Drama Exploring The Dark Side Of Online Outrage
Beyond its central whodunnit, Hunting Alice Bell aims to examine the consequences of misogyny, mob behaviour and the rapid spread of online rumours.
The series explores how a public accusation can spiral out of control, turning ordinary people into targets and leaving devastating consequences for their personal lives and families.
Rachel Gesua, senior executive producer at Clapperboard Studios, previously described the series as a provocative drama that speaks directly to contemporary society.
“Hunting Alice Bell is a story for our times, exploring what happens when the online mob comes for a group of ordinary women and the devastating effect that can have,” she said.
Gesua also praised the writing team, describing the drama as bold and provocative, with memorable characters brought to life by an exceptional cast. She expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration between Clapperboard Studios, Channel 4 and Sphere Abacus.
With its combination of psychological suspense, family conflict and social commentary, the series looks set to examine what happens when public suspicion becomes a force that is almost impossible to escape.

Alex Roach leads the cast as Fran Da Silva, the woman whose life is transformed by the accusation against her.

When Will Hunting Alice Bell Be Released?
Hunting Alice Bell is scheduled to launch on Channel 4 in November 2026.
With five women fighting to clear their names, a convicted killer whose former accomplice remains at large under a new identity, and the possibility that someone in the group is hiding the truth, the series promises a mystery that unfolds on both a personal and psychological level.
The question hanging over the drama is whether the women can uncover Alice Bell’s true identity before suspicion and public hatred destroy their lives.
