DOLLY PARTON’S FAMILY FINALLY SPEAKS AFTER HER PRIVATE FUNERAL… Their Emotional Tribute Reveals The Place She Held In Their Hearts” After Dolly Parton’s private funeral, her family has shared an emotional message that offers a deeply personal glimpse into the bond she shared with her nieces and nephews. Away from the millions who knew her as a country music icon, Dolly was simply the beloved aunt whose presence helped shape the lives of those closest to her. But one deeply touching detail in the family’s tribute reveals just how much Dolly meant to them—and why saying goodbye was so incredibly difficult.

Dolly Parton’s family has shared an emotional message following the country legend’s private funeral, offering a touching look at the special place she held in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

Parton was laid to rest on August 28, just three days after her death at the age of 80. A private service was held for close family and friends, honoring her final wishes.

The singer was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, where she was laid to rest beside her husband, Carl Dean, who died in 2025.

Photos from the gathering showed loved ones choosing colorful and sparkling outfits instead of traditional black, a fitting tribute to Parton’s famous love of rhinestones, bright colors and bold fashion.

The day after the service, Parton’s niece Lainey Mae Parton shared an emotional message about her beloved aunt, whom she lovingly called her “Granny.”

“This is a really hard post for me to make,” Lainey wrote, explaining that she wanted to wait until after Parton had been laid to rest before putting her feelings into words.

She described Dolly as someone who always made her feel loved, supported and capable of achieving anything.

“From the time I was little, my granny always had a way of making me feel like I was enough,” she wrote. “She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something.”

Lainey said she could not remember a single bad memory with her aunt, adding that Parton made her nieces and nephews feel like they were her own children.

“Because she couldn’t have kids of her own, she always made us feel like we were hers,” Lainey shared. “She loved us that way, and I’ll forever be grateful for that.”

Their bond went beyond family life. Lainey also had the chance to work alongside Dolly, joining her famous aunt on the 2024 album Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables.

Lainey remembered being a nervous high school freshman when Dolly asked her to sing with her.

“But she had a way of making me feel like nothing bad could happen,” she recalled. “She made me feel safe, confident, and like I belonged right there beside her.”

As Lainey grew older, Dolly continued to support her dreams. When she decided to attend beauty school, Dolly never questioned her choice. Instead, she encouraged her and helped financially support her education and the beginning of her career.

“She didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams, she helped me get there,” Lainey wrote.

Those memories have now become especially precious for Lainey, who said she is struggling to accept that her aunt is gone.

“It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone,” she wrote. “I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and just knowing she was there.”

She even admitted that she would miss the late-night and early-morning phone calls she once received from Dolly.

“I’d give anything to see her name pop up on my phone again,” she wrote.

Lainey ended her tribute with a heartfelt message of gratitude for the woman she was lucky enough to call her aunt and grandmother figure.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to call her my granny,” she wrote. “Thank you for always believing in me, loving me, and making me feel like I could do anything. I love you, Granny. Always.”

Dolly’s private farewell may have been small, just as she wanted, but the love surrounding her family in the days following her death shows just how deeply she touched the people closest to her.

For Lainey and the rest of Dolly’s family, her greatest legacy may not only be the songs, films and countless accomplishments she left behind, but also the love and confidence she gave to the people she called family.
