Clarkson knew the song would not be easy. Golden features some incredibly high notes, but the singer decided to take on the challenge in the song’s original key.

“That is a very high song,” Clarkson admitted before performing it. “I was like, ‘Let’s go for it!’”

She then delivered a powerful performance that quickly caught the attention of viewers online.

EJAE, who wrote and performed Golden for the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, shared Clarkson’s performance on social media and praised the singer.

“So honored,” EJAE wrote. “U absolutely killed it.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda also reacted to the performance, joking that Clarkson had “healed the honmoon” by herself, a reference to the popular Netflix animated movie.

But Golden was not the only special musical moment during the finale.

The episode also featured a Kelly by Request segment, giving fans the chance to select songs from Clarkson’s own catalog. She performed several of her biggest hits, including Since U Been Gone, Sober, Stronger and Piece by Piece.

Clarkson also performed her new song I’d Be Lyin’ live for the first time. The track is expected to serve as the lead single from her upcoming 11th studio album.
