GB NEWS HOST NANA AKUA ERUPTS IN ON-AIR CLASH WITH GUEST — ‘PATHETIC, CHILDLESS AND RIDICULOUS’ REMARK SPARKS FRESH FURY

GB News presenter Nana Akua was caught in a fiery on-air confrontation with political commentator Andy Twelves, as a discussion about the BBC’s latest cuts descended into a tense personal exchange that left viewers divided.
The clash unfolded during Nana’s show on Wednesday, October 21, when her panel included Twelves, former Conservative MP Esther McVey and fellow GB News presenter Will Kingston. What began as a debate about job losses at the BBC quickly spiralled after Twelves interrupted the host.
“I’m hosting the show,” Nana snapped, making her frustration clear.
Twelves fired back with a pointed criticism of her performance, telling her: “Are you? I don’t think viewers would’ve caught that from your performance there, your poor hosting skills, you lost control of the panel.”
Rather than move on, Nana challenged him directly. “Have you quite finished?” she asked, only for Twelves to respond that he had not.
“Let’s hear it. What else have you got to say?” Nana continued. “Let’s get it all out now, so when you’ve managed to purge yourself of what it is you have against me and once you’ve done that, we can get on with the show.
‘EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL’: ROW REFUSES TO DIE DOWN
The confrontation continued for several minutes, with neither side appearing ready to back down. Twelves eventually suggested they “leave it there”, but Nana pressed him to show more respect.
“To be very clear, we are going in circles and I’m asking you to be respectful. Thank you,” she said.
As the two continued talking over one another, Nana asked again whether he had finished. Twelves repeated the question back to her, prolonging the increasingly uncomfortable exchange.
Then came the moment that sparked further confusion. Nana described the situation as “pathetic, childless and ridiculous”, prompting Twelves to immediately question what she meant by the remark.
Nana later clarified that she had misspoken.

The heated confrontation drew strong reactions from viewers, with some criticising Twelves for his conduct towards the presenter. Online comments described him as “extremely disrespectful” and “rude”, while Twelves himself accused Nana of being “extremely unprofessional”.
The exchange put the spotlight on the tensions behind the live discussion, turning a conversation about BBC cuts and job losses into a dispute over the host’s handling of her own panel.
Before joining GB News, Nana worked with the BBC and appeared as a panellist on The Jeremy Vine Show. She also contributed to ITV’s flagship breakfast programme, Good Morning Britain.
