Nozell promised that fans would be able to trust releases made through Parton’s official channels. He said anything released through those outlets would carry her personal approval and would be connected to work she had been involved with while she was alive.

In other words, while Parton’s creative voice will continue to be heard, her team intends to protect the vision she spent decades building.

Her Broadway dream is still going ahead

One of the biggest projects connected to Parton’s legacy is already scheduled to reach the stage.

DOLLY: A True Original Musical is set to open on Broadway on January 19, 2027 — the date that would have marked Parton’s 81st birthday.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the production will explore Parton’s extraordinary life, career and enduring influence on music and popular culture.

But the Broadway show is only one part of a much larger slate of projects that will continue carrying her name and creative influence forward.

Among the other planned productions are a Dolly avatar show, a documentary about the musical, a biopic, a docuseries, a scripted series and an animated Billy the Kid project.

More projects are also expected to be announced in the future.
