A PLAYER on The 1% Club crashed out over difficult number question – but would you have solved it in 30 seconds?
The hit ITV show tests 100 participants – and viewers at home – on their logic and common sense rather than general knowledge.
Each show starts with a question that 90% of the public can get right, and works its way down to the holy grail 1% question.
Every time someone in the audience gets the answer wrong, their £1,000 stake goes into the prize pot, meaning there’s always a large sum of money up for grabs.
In a recent repeated episode from series two, one player crashed out a couple of questions too early when they got the 15% question wrong.
It read: “If 2 and 3 go together, and 6 and 7 go together, which two out of 1, 4, 5, 8 and 9 are a pair?”
The contestants – and viewers at home – had 30 seconds to try and work out the answer.
When the time was up, host Lee Mack revealed that one person among the remaining lit up players was out.
He then explained the answer was “4 and 5” because “numbers are grouped with numbers with which they share a first letter.”

The previous question was also a sticking point for some participants, with six crashing out on the 20% one.
It read: “Which four-letter word is missing from this list?”
The list of words started with ‘spot’ and also included ‘pots’ and ‘tops’.
Lee revealed the missing word was “Post”.
The episode concluded with just one person making it to the 1% question.
Brett knew he already had £1,000 in the pocket, and could leave with a further £10,000 if he chose not to take on the final question.
But with the temptation of the full £96k jackpot all to himself, Brett decided to go for it.
Unfortunately, he got it wrong and missed out on the chance to win the life-changing sum.
