Craig Melvin Reveals Daughter Sybil Is Finding Her Own Place in the Spotlight
Craig Melvin spends his working life in front of television cameras, and his wife Lindsay Czarniak has built a career in sports broadcasting. Now, their nine-year-old daughter Sybil appears to be discovering that she enjoys the spotlight, too — although her stage is a very different one.
During the Monday, August 24 edition of the 3rd Hour of TODAY, Craig revealed that Sybil had spent part of the weekend performing in her school’s production of The Little Mermaid.
Watching his daughter onstage left the proud father with a clear impression: performing may genuinely be something Sybil loves.
Craig says Sybil was “in her element”

While sharing the family update with his TODAY colleagues, Craig described Sybil as being very much “in her element” during the production.
He also suggested that theater appears to be “her thing,” offering a sweet glimpse at an interest his daughter may be beginning to develop for herself.
For Craig, seeing Sybil comfortable in front of an audience may feel somewhat familiar. He has spent years working before the cameras and currently serves as co-anchor of NBC News’ TODAY as well as a co-host of the program’s third hour.
Lindsay, meanwhile, has also spent much of her professional life on television as a sports broadcaster.
Sybil’s interest in performing therefore adds another on-camera personality to a family already accustomed to life in the public eye — even if, for now, her appearances are happening on the school stage rather than inside a television studio.
Craig and Lindsay are raising two children

Craig and Lindsay married in 2011 and share two children: 12-year-old Delano and nine-year-old Sybil.
Although Craig regularly appears on national television, his children have occasionally become part of his work over the years as well. In one previous TODAY feature, Craig appeared alongside his kids while reading Mo Willems’ Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale.
His latest story about Sybil, however, offered viewers a different look at how she is beginning to establish interests of her own.
Rather than simply appearing alongside her famous father, the nine-year-old was the one performing, with Craig watching from the audience as a proud parent.
Another performer in the Melvin-Czarniak family?

It is far too early to know whether Sybil’s enthusiasm for theater will eventually develop into anything beyond school productions, and Craig did not suggest that his daughter is pursuing a professional career.
What he did make clear was how naturally she seemed to take to the experience.
For two parents whose careers have placed them in front of cameras and audiences for years, watching their daughter discover that same comfort with performing offered a particularly sweet family moment.
For now, Sybil’s spotlight belongs to the school stage — and according to her dad, she seems perfectly at home there.
