Megyn Kelly backs ‘sharp as a tack’ Martha Stewart as conflicting accounts emerge over Meghan Markle dinner-party remarks
Megyn Kelly has firmly sided with Martha Stewart after conflicting accounts emerged over what Meghan Markle allegedly discussed at a recent California dinner party.
The disagreement began after Stewart, 85, said she had attended the same gathering as the Duchess of Sussex and believed Meghan had been talking about her recent visit to Britain, including a trip to Highgrove to see King Charles.
A source close to Meghan later disputed that version of events, insisting the Duchess had merely spoken about enjoying a European holiday and suggesting Stewart may have misunderstood what she heard.
Kelly, however, says she has little doubt about Stewart’s recollection.
Megyn Kelly comes to Martha Stewart’s defence

Speaking on the August 13 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly, 55, strongly defended the lifestyle entrepreneur.
“Martha doesn’t spew s**t,” Kelly said, adding: “She gives it straight.”
The former Fox News host also rejected the suggestion that Stewart might simply have misheard the conversation, describing her as still being “sharp as a tack.”
Her comments add another layer to an unusual dispute involving three high-profile women and differing recollections of what happened at a private dinner.
What Martha Stewart said about Meghan
Stewart first discussed the encounter during an interview with People in early August.
“I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night,” she said. “We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace.”
Stewart made clear that she and Meghan did not have an extended conversation themselves.
“I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it,” she added.
Meghan, 45, had recently returned from England with Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet. The family had visited King Charles at Highgrove.
The visit had attracted particular attention because it was previously reported that Harry had agreed not to discuss it publicly and that photographs from the meeting would not be released.
Meghan source disputes Stewart’s version

A source close to the Duchess subsequently offered a different account, telling The Mirror that Meghan had not discussed the royal visit.
According to the insider, someone at the gathering asked Meghan about her European vacation and she simply responded that it had been nice.
“Meghan was asked by someone else about her European vacation and said it was nice, and that was the extent of it,” the source said. “I think she must have been confused.”
It was also claimed that Stewart and Meghan were not seated close to one another at the event.
Despite the disagreement, the insider maintained that Meghan remains a fan of Stewart.
Martha has previously questioned Meghan’s lifestyle credentials
The dinner-party disagreement comes against the backdrop of Stewart previously offering some pointed observations about Meghan’s move into the lifestyle and cooking space.
Asked by People about the Duchess effectively entering territory Stewart has occupied for decades following the launch of With Love, Meghan, she highlighted the unusual trajectory of Meghan’s career.
“If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” Stewart said. “It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
It was not the first time she had addressed Meghan’s lifestyle ambitions.

During a July 2025 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle Australia, Stewart said she hoped Meghan knew “what she was talking about.”
“Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about,” she said.
Stewart then emphasised the importance she places on expertise when building a lifestyle brand.
“Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important,” she added.
Highgrove remains absent from Meghan’s public posts
The timing of Stewart’s latest comments made the disagreement particularly notable, coming shortly after Meghan and Harry’s visit with the King.
Although Meghan later shared photographs documenting several private family moments from the wider trip on Instagram, she did not post anything from Highgrove.

That appeared consistent with previous reports that the royal reunion would remain private.
What remains disputed is whether Meghan later discussed that visit at the California dinner party.
Her camp says she did not. Stewart says she heard otherwise.
And Kelly has now made it clear whose recollection she finds more convincing.
