Ella Langley says that she has learned to rely on God — and not on unhealthy coping mechanisms — when she goes through difficult life seasons.

“Instead of trying to go to other things like I have before — either men or drugs or…other feelings — to try to make myself feel a certain way, I go to Him first,” Langley said, pointing upwards, during a show in Oklahoma City last Thursday (June 18.)

The singer said she’s “read my Bible almost every single day” over the past year.

As she reflected onstage about her relationship with God, Langley brought up a personal low point when she battled depression and doubted her future in country music.

Things got so bad that she “didn’t think I wanted to be here anymore,” Langley admitted.

“The thing I thought I was cut out to do my whole entire life, I didn’t know if I could do it,” the singer says, likely alluding to a time in the summer of 2025 when she canceled shows to focus on her mental and physical health.

Langley has since said that she used that time to be close to family and reconnect with her relationship with God. Now, she says that experience also clarified her purpose as an artist.

“The thing that changed my mind is I realized that I have a purpose in this life,” she said, “and my purpose is to stand up here, share my testimony, to be honest with my crowd, to be honest with my fans, to write the best songs that I can write, to put on the best show that I can put on and that’s all I can do.”

She also offered a message of hope to anyone who’s struggling, and that is to follow the “North Star” of God.

“If you just focus wake up and focus on that every day, you give one percent better than the day before, you’re going to get through it,” Langley emphasized. “And you’re gonna be back to loving life again, I promise you.”

Mental health has been a familiar theme in Langley’s songwriting for years. Her 2024 Hungover album features the track “Monsters,” which deals with inner demons and turmoil.

On Dandelion, she included the song “Loving Life Again,” a track inspired by her journey out of her 2025 rough patch.
