A Netflix series that left subscribers “shaking with anger” has quietly amassed millions of views.
Netflix has been churning out more true crime documentaries than ever before, with The Murder of Rachel Nickell being amongst the most recent releases, alongside drama The Witness continuing to hold its place in the most-watched list.
However, it’s this “spine chilling” standalone true crime documentary Maternal Instinct that has truly lodged itself in viewers’ minds, initially debuting in the number two spot.
Maternal Instinct may have only landed on Friday, June 12, but in under a week, the 90-minute special has managed to accumulate a staggering 15million views.

Given the nature of the documentary, it’s hardly surprising that Netflix subscribers have been utterly unable to resist streaming it.

As described by Netflix, Maternal Instinct “zooms in on a deceptive woman in a small East Texas town who seems to have the perfect relationship and an impending pregnancy.
“When she’s pulled over by a state trooper, she says she’s just given birth in her car – but her story doesn’t add up.”
Maternal Instinct centres on Taylor Parker, who continued proudly flaunting her “baby bump” across social media until it was subsequently revealed she had never actually been pregnant.
Prior to this shocking discovery, she persisted in weaving an elaborate web of deceit before it ultimately culminated in Parker committing a truly horrific crime.

Viewers have since been flocking to X to voice their outrage at watching Maternal Instinct. “I don’t think I’ve ever watched anything as disturbing as Maternal Instinct on Netflix. I’m actually shaking with anger”, one viewer posted.
Another concurred: “Maternal Instinct documentary is so disturbing and spine chilling.
“You can’t even expect a person can go to this level – never heard about this case in Texas. It’s horrifying than a horror film.
“Did anyone else have sleepless nights after watching this horror of a Netflix documentary”, one viewer questioned.
A subscriber declared: “What a crazy real-life story and a good reminder that unfathomable evil exists in this world”, while another simply stated: “I’m shook to my core.”
