Wheel Of Fortune Fans Still Can’t Believe Contestant Solved A 27-Letter Puzzle With Just One Letter

Caitlin Burke’s incredible solve left Pat Sajak speechless and became one of the most memorable moments in the show’s history.
A Wheel Of Fortune contestant once pulled off a puzzle solve so impressive that fans are still talking about it years later.
During a classic episode that originally aired in November 2010, Caitlin Burke shocked the audience — and even longtime host Pat Sajak — when she solved a lengthy puzzle after only one letter had been revealed.
The moment recently resurfaced after Wheel Of Fortune shared the clip during the show’s summer break on August 20, bringing the unforgettable game back into the spotlight.
The official post joked:
“A solve so good people will claim this is AI.”
And it is easy to understand why.
The unbelievable one-letter solve
Burke, a New York Fashion editor competing on the show, was facing a “Phrase” puzzle containing 27 letters. At the time, the board appeared almost impossible to solve, with only a single “L” visible.
After a brief pause, Burke asked Sajak a question that stunned everyone.
“Can I solve?”
The host hesitated before agreeing.
Burke then confidently gave her answer:
“I’ve Got a Good Feeling About This.”
The room erupted.
“That’s right,” Sajak confirmed, before making his way over to her, clearly amazed by what had just happened.
Even Sajak had to ask:
“How did you—?”
Burke simply replied:
“I had a good feeling about it.”
The strategy behind the miracle moment
Although the solve looked like pure luck, Burke later explained that she had a method behind her decision.
Speaking with NPR after the episode, she revealed that she immediately breaks puzzles into smaller sections when they appear. She noticed the apostrophe at the beginning and realized the word was likely either “I’ve” or “I’ll.”
At first, she considered the phrase “I’ll Have What She’s Having,” but quickly realized it did not match the puzzle layout. She then switched her thinking and focused on phrases beginning with “I’ve,” eventually landing on the correct answer.
Fans still celebrate the legendary solve
Years later, viewers continue to praise Burke’s incredible instincts.
Fans flooded the comments after the clip was reposted, calling it one of the quickest and most impressive solves they had ever seen.
One viewer joked that they would be “terrified to be married to this woman” because of how quickly she recognized the answer.
Even musician Questlove reacted to the moment, writing:
“NO WAY!”
Other fans described Burke’s performance as “extremely impressive,” “one of the quickest solves” and “the most amazing solve” they had witnessed.
Burke went on to win a trip to Grenada along with $54,600 in cash and prizes during her appearance.
More than a decade later, her one-letter victory remains one of Wheel Of Fortune’s most unforgettable game moments — proving that sometimes, all it takes is one good feeling.
