£99,000 Came Down To Just Four Missing Letters — And One ‘The 1% Club’ Finalist Cracked The Bizarre Puzzle Almost Instantly. With Only 30 Seconds To Complete “Mr Owl Ate My Metal ____,” Mitul Spotted The Hidden Trick And Walked Away With A Life-Changing Jackpot — But Viewers Were Left Fiercely Divided, With Some Calling The Final Question Ridiculously Easy And Others Completely Stumped. One Strange Sentence, One Four-Letter Answer… Could You Have Seen What He Saw?

A contestant on ITV’s The 1% Club walked away with an impressive £99,000 after solving the show’s final puzzle, although viewers were sharply divided over whether the question was genuinely difficult.

Hosted by Lee Mack, the popular quiz show puts 100 contestants through a series of logic-based questions, with the potential to win a share of a prize fund worth up to £100,000.

The questions gradually become harder as the programme progresses. It begins with a question that 90% of the British public are expected to answer correctly, before eventually reaching the final challenge, which only 1% are expected to solve.

Mitul spots the answer

On Saturday night’s episode, only two contestants made it through to the final question, and they came up with different answers.

Mitul ultimately secured the £99,000 prize after quickly recognising the solution.

The final puzzle asked:

In this puzzle, what four-letter word replaces the missing part of this sentence?

“Mr Owl ate my metal ____”

The 1% Club winner 'lost control of body' after scooping huge £99k prize - but could you answer the jackpot question?

The question sparked plenty of debate among viewers, with some saying they had worked it out immediately while others were completely stumped.

One viewer posted: “Either I am getting cleverer or #The1PercentClub is getting easier.”

Another agreed, writing: “That 1 percent question was p*** easy. #The1PercentClub.”

But not everyone found it straightforward. One viewer simply responded: “No clue whatsoever.”

Could you solve the final question?

The missing four-letter word was worm.

Lee Mack explained that the solution relies on the sentence being a palindrome, meaning it reads the same backwards as it does forwards.

With the missing word included, the sentence becomes:

“Mr Owl ate my metal worm.”

Mitul said he had spotted the answer “quite quickly”, securing the huge £99,000 prize in the process.

So, how quickly did you work it out?
