Lionel Richie remains hospitalized in a St. Louis intensive care unit as doctors continue testing him for possible heart-related problems.

The 77-year-old singer checked himself into the hospital after performing at The Muny in St. Louis on Aug. 29. Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that doctors are now checking his heart, and he is expected to leave the hospital on Wednesday.

The latest update comes just days after Richie performed his final song, All Night Long, while sitting in a chair onstage.

People at the St. Louis concert reportedly noticed that Richie appeared to be struggling toward the end of the show. He asked his team to bring him a chair and finished the performance while seated.

The hospitalization was initially linked to possible mild dehydration. Richie himself addressed the issue during the concert, telling the audience that he had been dealing with some health concerns during the tour.

“Some things have been happening on this tour that kind of shook me up a little bit,” Richie told the crowd, according to The St. Louis American.

The singer explained that he had gone back to see his doctor and was told he was suffering from dehydration.

Richie even showed fans the electrolyte drink he was using to stay hydrated. After taking a drink of the red liquid, he joked that it tasted terrible but was helping him recover.

The latest health scare comes after a similar incident earlier this year.

In June, Richie suddenly felt dizzy while performing in St. Paul, Minn., during the opening night of his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

Richie stopped the concert before finishing the scheduled set and was later taken to a hospital by ambulance. Two upcoming shows were postponed so he could rest and recover.

At the time, Richie reassured fans that he was feeling better. He eventually returned to the stage for the June 30 and July 1 shows.

On July 4, he thanked fans for their support in a social media message.

“Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love,” Richie wrote. “I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”

Despite the June health scare, Richie continued his tour and performed in St. Louis on Aug. 29.

However, his decision to sit during the final song once again raised concerns among fans. He was subsequently admitted to the ICU for testing.

Richie has not publicly commented on the latest reports about his condition, and his representatives have not provided additional details.

The singer is currently enjoying a break from his tour schedule, with his next concert set for Sept. 26 in San Francisco.

For now, fans are waiting for more information and hoping Richie will be able to return home soon.
