Landman Season 3 Finally Gets Back Into Production After Months of Delays

After months of uncertainty, Landman Season 3 is finally moving forward. James Jordan, who plays Dale Bradley in Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace’s Paramount+ drama, has confirmed that production is back underway, giving fans their clearest indication yet that Tommy Norris and the rest of the show’s characters are on their way back to West Texas.

Jordan marked the return to work by sharing a photo from the set with the caption, “Up n runnin’ and back after it!” The update comes after a lengthy period of delays that pushed Season 3 well beyond the show’s established November release pattern.

The production news is particularly significant because filming had already been pushed back several times. What was originally expected to begin in May 2026 was moved later in the year, with reports in August indicating that cameras would finally roll in September. Jordan had previously said that filming was expected to continue through the first quarter of 2027.

Landman Season 3 Is Back in Production

The return to filming follows months of uncertainty surrounding the next chapter of Sheridan’s oil drama.

Landman premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024 and quickly became one of the platform’s biggest original series. Set against the oil fields of West Texas, the series follows Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, an experienced crisis executive and landman working to manage the increasingly complicated interests of a powerful energy company.

Season 3 was renewed following the success of the second season, but its production schedule proved considerably more complicated than the previous two installments. James Jordan confirmed in August that filming had been pushed to September, while also revealing that Sheridan was still writing the new episodes.

The delays have been linked in reporting to several factors, including Thornton’s existing commitments, Sheridan’s workload across his expanding television slate and the difficult conditions of the Texas summer.

Despite the shifting schedule, the cast has remained enthusiastic about returning. Jordan previously said that Season 3 would consist of 10 episodes and that the story would pick up where Season 2 ended.

Michael Kelly Joins the Cast

The returning ensemble will also have a notable new addition.

Michael Kelly, known for Lioness and The Penguin, has joined Landman Season 3 as a series regular. Paramount confirmed that Kelly will play William Crockett, described as the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world. The character is portrayed as a powerful figure whose entire presence reflects efficiency and wealth.

Kelly joins a cast led by Thornton, with Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore also returning.

Thornton remains at the center of the series as Tommy Norris, whose work in the oil industry repeatedly places him between corporate interests, dangerous field operations and the complicated people surrounding him.

Why the Release Date Has Been Pushed Back

The production delays mean Season 3 will not follow the annual November schedule established by the first two seasons.

Season 1 debuted in November 2024, while Season 2 arrived in November 2025. With Season 3 production now taking place much later than originally planned, a 2026 release was already considered unlikely in earlier reports, with the new season expected to arrive in 2027.

Paramount+ has not yet announced an official premiere date for Season 3. That means fans will have to wait for the streaming service to confirm exactly when the new episodes will arrive.

The longer production schedule also gives Sheridan time to complete the scripts while managing several other projects. Paramount+ executive Jane Wiseman acknowledged in August that Sheridan was simultaneously working on Tulsa King, Landman, Frisco King, Dutton Ranch and The Madison, highlighting the unusually busy slate surrounding the creator.

Landman’s Audience Has Continued to Grow

The wait for Season 3 comes as Landman reaches new highs in viewership.

The Season 2 premiere, which debuted on November 16, 2025, attracted more than 9.2 million global streaming views during its first two days. According to Paramount+, that represented a 262% increase over the Season 1 premiere and made it the most-watched premiere for an original series in Paramount+ history at the time.

The audience remained strong throughout the second season. The Season 2 finale, released on January 18, 2026, drew 14.8 million global views in its first two days, according to Paramount’s internal figures. That was a 70% increase over the Season 1 finale. Episodes 1 through 9 of Season 2 also averaged 14.9 million global views during their first seven days, up 58% from Season 1.

The show’s first season had already established Landman as a major streaming success. Luminate reported that the series accumulated 9.9 billion minutes viewed in Q4 2024, making it the third most-watched original streaming series worldwide that year.

That performance helped explain why Paramount+ moved ahead with a third season despite the increasingly complicated production schedule.

What to Expect From Season 3

Specific story details for Season 3 remain under wraps, but Jordan has indicated that the new episodes will continue directly from the events of Season 2 rather than introducing a major time jump. He also described the upcoming season as a continuation of the tone and scale established by the first two seasons.

For now, the biggest development is simply that production is moving again.

With Thornton returning as Tommy Norris, Michael Kelly joining the ensemble and Sheridan continuing to write the new season, Landman is finally taking another step toward its return to Paramount+.

An official Season 3 premiere date has yet to be announced. Until then, Seasons 1 and 2 remain available to stream on Paramount+.
