Kyle Davis proved that it is never too late to chase a music dream on The Voice.

The 61-year-old singer delivered a powerful performance of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” during the third night of Season 30 Blind Auditions, earning a four-chair turn from Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Adam Levine and Queen Latifah.

Before taking the stage, Davis opened up about returning to music later in life.

“This is such an exciting opportunity to come at such a later point in the arc of my music career,” he said. “It’s never really too late. You always have to chase a dream.”

His performance quickly showed the coaches that his dream was still very much alive.

“What the hell have you been doing?” Clarkson asked when Davis finished.

Davis explained that he had once been signed to a record deal and released two albums before spending years on the road. He eventually stepped away from music to focus on raising his children and later built a career in real estate.

As his kids grew older and developed their own interest in music, Davis found his way back to singing.

All four coaches were impressed by Davis’ return to the stage.

Clarkson was especially confident about what they could accomplish together.

“You are so good,” she told him. “I’ve won the show four times. I swear to you I can win with you.”

Levine said he simply enjoyed watching Davis perform and believed they shared similar musical tastes.

“There’s not enough of you out there,” Levine said. “I’m just happy that we found you.”

Green also singled Davis out as one of the night’s standout performers.

“That was the most unique thing that we’ve heard,” he said. “That was a standout performance.”

Green added that Davis’ voice reminded him of Dave Matthews, before explaining why the singer represented what The Voice is all about.

“You made me realize that the show being called The Voice is more about a voice that’s worthy of needing to be heard,” Green said. “I think you’re what the show’s about.”

Queen Latifah kept her pitch short but clear.

“You deserve that four-chair turn,” she told Davis.

After hearing from all four coaches, Davis had a difficult choice to make. In the end, he chose Kelly Clarkson.

Clarkson was thrilled to have him.

“That’s probably my favorite person this season,” she said afterward, praising his vocal talent and unique style. “I feel like it’s my turn to win this season of The Voice. I can taste a victory.”

Davis’ journey now continues with Team Kelly, proving that a return to music at 61 can still lead to a brand-new chapter.
