PRINCESS EUGENIE’S SILENCE ON SARAH FERGUSON’S 67TH BIRTHDAY RAISES EYEBROWS — THE EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE THAT HAS SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED

Princess Eugenie appears to have broken with a familiar family tradition by leaving her mother, Sarah Ferguson, without a public birthday tribute as the Duchess of York turned 67.
The 36-year-old royal has frequently used Instagram to celebrate the birthdays of those closest to her, including her husband, Jack Brooksbank, their children and her sister, Princess Beatrice. In previous years, she has also shared affectionate messages for her mother.
But on October 15, Eugenie appeared not to acknowledge Sarah’s birthday publicly — a noticeable change given the warmth of her earlier tributes.
The apparent silence comes at a difficult time for the York family, with Sarah remaining largely out of the royal spotlight amid renewed scrutiny over her past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the wider controversy surrounding her former husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

THE BIRTHDAY MESSAGE EUGENIE HAS NOT REPEATED
Eugenie’s previous birthday posts for Sarah were often deeply personal.
On her mother’s 65th birthday in 2024, the Princess shared a photograph featuring Sarah and her eldest son, August, alongside a heartfelt message.
“Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma. So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are,” she wrote.
Two years earlier, Eugenie had also posted a simple but affectionate greeting: “Happy Birthday, my dear mumsy!”
In an earlier tribute marking Sarah’s 61st birthday, she described her mother as “one of a kind” and “completely unique”.
Eugenie was not thought to have shared a birthday post for Sarah in 2023, however, meaning the latest omission does not establish a consistent pattern of public silence.
Nevertheless, the contrast with her previous messages has attracted attention, particularly as the family continues to face difficult headlines.

EUGENIE’S LATEST POST FOCUSES ON HER OWN FAMILY
Rather than celebrating her mother publicly, Eugenie’s most recent Instagram post featured her husband and their baby daughter, Adelaide, who joined the family in early August.
The post marked the couple’s eighth wedding anniversary and included a tender video of Jack gently massaging their daughter’s head.
“Happy 8 years married my love,” Eugenie wrote.
She explained that the video captured a moment viewers could not hear, with Jack asking their daughter whether she liked having her head massaged.
She went on to praise him as “so thoughtful, caring, and best Dada there is to our 3. Couldn’t have wished for a better partner.”
The affectionate anniversary message offered a glimpse into the family’s private life, but it also highlighted the absence of a corresponding public birthday greeting for Sarah.
There has been no public confirmation that the omission reflects a falling-out between mother and daughter.
THE YORK SISTERS’ REPORTED PRIVATE SUPPORT

Despite the scrutiny surrounding their parents, reports have suggested that Eugenie and Beatrice have continued to maintain contact with their mother away from public view.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier told HELLO! that friends had said both sisters had visited Sarah at her new home in recent weeks.
“Friends tell me they have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks,” he said.
Dampier added that he did not think the sisters wanted to be seen with Sarah publicly at present, suggesting that she understood the sensitivity of the situation.
“But behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive,” he said.
The account suggests that public appearances and private family relationships may be following different paths. However, the reports have not been independently confirmed, and neither princess has publicly explained her current position.
SARAH’S BIRTHDAY AMID THE WIDER YORK FAMILY CRISIS
Sarah’s birthday comes as she remains largely absent from public royal life following scrutiny of her association with Epstein. Andrew, meanwhile, was evicted from Royal Lodge in Windsor, the former home he shared with Sarah for years after their divorce in 1996.
Earlier reports also suggested that Eugenie was not on speaking terms with her father, although the extent of their current relationship has not been publicly established.
The continuing controversy has placed Beatrice and Eugenie in a difficult position as they navigate their own family lives while their parents remain the focus of public attention.
There have also been reports that Sarah is no longer welcome at Andrew’s home on the Sandringham estate, despite the former couple’s long-standing friendship following their divorce.
For now, Eugenie’s missing birthday message remains an observable detail rather than proof of a personal rift. While her past tributes show the affection she has publicly expressed for her mother, the Princess has offered no explanation for why she appears to have chosen not to repeat that gesture this year.
