Scotty McCreery is entering a new chapter filled with family memories, personal stories, and fresh music. The country singer recently opened up about fatherhood, his latest career milestone, and the inspiration behind his upcoming album during a new interview with Country Countdown USA.

McCreery recently celebrated 15 years as a recording artist with the release of 15, a special career retrospective collection featuring nine of his biggest hits along with four new recordings. The album is available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms as a tribute to his journey in country music.

While reflecting on the project, McCreery also shared a glimpse into his life away from the spotlight with his two sons, Merrick Avery and Oliver Cooke.

The proud father said Avery has fully embraced his role as a big brother and loves helping his younger sibling learn new things.

“Avery is awesome, he loves to teach his brother things,” McCreery shared. “Avery’s into sports and wonders, ‘Why can’t Ollie do this with me?’ Avery is a ham, so if he sees Ollie making people laugh, he’ll jump in and try to make people laugh too.”

As for Oliver, who will celebrate his first birthday on September 18, McCreery joked that his youngest son is getting closer to walking but has not quite reached that milestone yet.

“Not yet, but he’s starting to rock back and forth,” he said. “Maybe next time we talk, he’ll be on the go. But at the moment it’s just too much weight to move.”

Despite the busy days of raising two young children, McCreery said he feels grateful for this season of life.

“We got our hands full in all the best ways,” he explained. “When the day ends, we just appreciate the blessings we have. It’s crazy, but amazing time in the house right now.”

Alongside family life and his touring schedule, McCreery is already preparing for his next musical project. The singer revealed that a new full-length album is currently in development and that he plans to return to the studio soon.

“I’m itching to get back in the studio to make a full-length album,” he said. “I’ll be back in the studio in a month or two. I’ve been writing songs for that. Can’t wait for folks to hear what we’re working on.”

Although McCreery has not shared many details about the upcoming record, he revealed that some of his most meaningful personal experiences are becoming part of the new music.

One song was inspired by his beloved dog Moose, a track that came together unexpectedly during a writing session.

“We’ve got a song written about my dog Moose,” McCreery said. “I didn’t go into the session looking for a dog song, but I’m so glad it happened. I’m pretty sure that song will make the album.”

He also wrote an emotional song honoring his two grandmothers, who both passed away last year. McCreery explained that the new track carries a similar emotional connection to his hit song “Five More Minutes,” which was written about his grandfather.

“I also wrote a story song about my grandmothers. I lost both of them last year,” he shared. “So if ‘Five More Minutes’ was for my grandfather, then this song is more touching on my grandmothers.”

With new music inspired by family, loss, and unforgettable moments, McCreery is giving fans a closer look at the stories shaping the next stage of his career.
