A winning player on The 1% Club bagged a whopping £96,000 as the only person to solve a tricky letters sequence – but could you work it out?

Hosted by Lee Mack, the popular ITV game show tests contestants’ logic and common sense, rather than general knowledge.

This particular episode saw the 100 players whittled down to three contenders: Cameron, Tazmin and Paul.

They faced the question: ‘What are the next two letters in this sequence?’, while being shown T N E C R E P E.

Furthermore, the trio were given just 30 seconds to work out which letter pair completed this sequence.

With an incredible £96,000 prize on the line, Lee asked each of the finalists for their answers.

Cameron answered ‘N-T’, Tamzin had gone for ‘N-O’ while Paul offered up ‘T-E’ as his effort.

Lee then revealed: ‘The correct answer is N-O-‘, meaning Tamzin had therefore bagged the entire jackpot.

Speaking afterwards, the winning contestant admitted she had locked in her answer just 10 seconds after being shown the brainteaser.

In a fun piece of trivia, this instalment initially aired in 2022 and was actually the quiz’s launch episode.

Elsewhere, another contestant made show history by winning The 1% Club’s highest-ever jackpot.

A ‘Rollover’ spin-off aired last month and spanned across one week of episodes.

It allowed contestants who reached the final round to return the following night – regardless of their outcome.

So, if anyone managed to keep playing by Friday, they could have potentially won p to £500,000.

One edition saw finalists Michelle and Nathaniel competing for an incredible £194,000 jackpot.

The pair faced this question: ‘Heidi Abbi Bedhead just got a new bank card. If the picture below displays the first 12 digits of the card number, what are the final four?’

On screen, a graphic showed the bank card with digits 8594 9122 9254????

Can you work it out?

Michelle opted for 8154, while opponent Nathaniel instead answered 9214.

Ultimately, Michelle was revealed to be correct – with the numbers on the bank card corresponding to the alphabet and therefore spelling out Heidi’s full name.

As the missing digits represent ‘head’, the required digits are, as Michelle identified, 8514.

Lee said afterwards: ‘Blimey, that is the most anyone has won on the show, obviously, as it’s a rollover. How do you feel?’

To which the winning player simply replied: ‘I feel like this might be a dream.’

Having reached the 1% question, both Michelle and Nathaniel returned for Wednesday’s episode – per the rollover format’s rules.

Neither made it to the final that time around, although Michelle still walked away with her winnings from the previous night.

Instead, fellow contestant Lucie Alcock made show history by the winning the entirety of the show’s standard £100,000 jackpot.

As every player had used their pass during the game, the full amount of prize money was up for grabs.

This had only previously been achieved by former footballer Clarke Carlisle, 46, during a special Soccer Aid edition of the programme.

The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
