Country music came together at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night to remember one of its most beloved legends, Dolly Parton.

Just days after the country icon died at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer, the historic Nashville venue hosted a special tribute celebrating her extraordinary life, music, and lasting connection to the Opry.

The emotional night brought together some of country music’s biggest names, including Carly Pearce, Kathy Mattea, Molly Tuttle, Channing Wilson, Ketch Secor, and Dolly’s own niece, Jada Star.

Jada delivered one of the evening’s most personal performances, singing The Orchard, the song she recorded with her famous aunt for the 2024 album Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables.

After her performance, Jada became emotional as she spoke to her family and the audience.

“Thank you. I love you, cousins. We’re all going to be alright. I promise,” she said.

The tribute continued with artists choosing songs connected to Dolly and her incredible career.

Carly Pearce and Kathy Mattea were among those who took the stage to honor the late singer, while Molly Tuttle and Channing Wilson also added their voices to the emotional celebration.

The night reached another powerful moment when Jelly Roll made a surprise appearance for the final live performance.

He joined the other performers onstage for a group rendition of Dolly’s classic hit 9 to 5. With so many artists gathered together, the performance became a fitting celebration of the woman who helped shape country music for generations.

But the concert still had one more emotional moment waiting for the audience.

After the live performances ended, the Opry played a video of Dolly herself singing I Will Always Love You.

Watching the late singer perform one of her most famous songs brought the night to a quiet and heartbreaking close.

The song, which Dolly originally wrote and recorded, later became a worldwide hit for Whitney Houston after she recorded it for The Bodyguard soundtrack.

For the Grand Ole Opry, honoring Dolly was especially meaningful.

The legendary venue was a major part of Dolly’s life from the very beginning. She first performed there as a 13-year-old girl and famously received three encores.

Dolly later described the Opry as one of the most important places in her career, comparing performing there to making it in New York.

“For me, the Opry is like the song ‘New York, New York,’” she once said. “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.”

More than six decades after that first appearance, Dolly returned to the Opry stage one final time through the video played during Saturday’s tribute.

The celebration came just one day after members of Dolly’s family gathered at her final resting place at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.

Dolly was laid to rest beside her husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 after 58 years of marriage.

Her family had previously confirmed that Dolly wanted a small and private farewell surrounded by her closest loved ones.

While her funeral was intimate, the world has continued finding its own ways to say goodbye.

Fans have gathered at landmarks connected to Dolly, while musicians and celebrities across the country have shared tributes to the woman whose music, kindness, and larger-than-life personality touched millions.

At the Grand Ole Opry, however, the farewell felt especially personal.

Dolly Parton spent much of her life dreaming, singing, writing, and giving back. On Saturday night, the country music community came together on one of the stages she loved most to make sure her music would continue to live on.
