Wait… He’s Only 10?!! Simon Cowell Was Left Stunned As A Tiny Guitarist Stormed The AGT Stage And Turned The Audition Into A Full-Blown Rock Concert! Bay Melnick Virgolino walked onto the AGT stage looking like an ordinary child. Then he picked up his guitar, launched into “I Love Rock ’n Roll,” and completely transformed the room.

10-Year-Old Guitar Prodigy Bay Melnick Virgolino Shreds “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll” on AGT — And America Couldn’t Look Away

He may only be 10 years old, but Bay Melnick Virgolino walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage like he had been born to play it.

When the young guitarist launched into “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll” during Season 20’s Quarterfinals, the performance quickly turned into one of those unmistakable AGT moments where the size of the performer simply doesn’t match the size of the talent.

There were lights.

There was smoke.

There was a backing band.

There was a huge America’s Got Talent stage waiting for him.

But the moment Bay strapped on his guitar, none of that mattered.

All eyes were on the 10-year-old.

And Bay delivered.

A Little Kid With a Very Big Rock ’n’ Roll Attitude

For the second round of the Season 20 Quarterfinals, Bay took on the iconic “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll,” a song originally written by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker in 1975 for their band, The Arrows.

The song’s most famous incarnation came later, when Joan Jett and the Blackhearts turned it into a massive hit in 1982.

Taking on a song with that kind of rock history would be a serious challenge for any young performer.

Bay didn’t seem intimidated.

Instead, he attacked the performance with confidence, attitude and a guitarist’s instinct that appeared far beyond his years.

The result was explosive.

He wasn’t simply standing onstage playing a few guitar chords.

He was performing.

He owned the stage.

And the audience responded accordingly.

“Honestly, You’re So Young…”

After the performance, the reaction from the crowd was impossible to ignore.

Judge Simon Cowell pointed toward the audience and drew attention to the enormous roar coming from the room.

Then came the compliment that perfectly captured what made Bay’s audition so impressive.

“Honestly, you’re so young but you came out here with this real attitude,” Cowell told him.

And that attitude was everywhere.

Bay carried himself with the confidence of a seasoned rock performer, while still retaining the unmistakable excitement of a 10-year-old living out an enormous dream.

It was that combination that made the performance so entertaining.

From a Five-Year-Old Slash Fan to the AGT Stage

Bay’s love affair with the guitar began remarkably early.

During his Auditions appearance, the New York native explained that he was only 5 years old when he became obsessed with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

“I was 5 years old, and I was obsessed with Slash,” Bay explained.

He wanted to learn the instrument, so he asked his mother for lessons.

That early fascination clearly developed into something much bigger.

By the time Bay reached America’s Got Talent, he wasn’t simply a child who had learned a few songs.

He had developed into a confident young musician capable of handling the pressure of one of television’s biggest talent competitions.

And Bay was quick to give credit to the people who helped him get there.

“My mom and my dad, they’re my biggest supporters, they’re kind of like…they’re my roadies,” he joked.

That playful comment offered a glimpse of the personality behind the guitar.

The Performance That First Introduced America to Bay

Before “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll,” Bay had already made an impression during the Auditions.

He performed Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” giving viewers their first major look at the young guitarist’s ability.

But the Quarterfinals performance raised the stakes.

This time, Bay wasn’t simply trying to get through the Auditions.

He was competing for America’s votes.

And he needed to make people remember him.

He did exactly that.

The performance combined the visual spectacle of a major AGT production with the raw energy of a young guitarist who clearly loves what he is doing.

Bay’s size only made the spectacle more striking.

The guitar looked almost enormous against him.

His personality, however, was even bigger.

America Sent Him Through

The biggest question after the performance was whether viewers would give Bay enough votes to continue.

They did.

Bay finished among the Top 3 of his Quarterfinal round, earning his place in the Live Semifinal.

For a 10-year-old musician competing against performers from across the country, it was a remarkable achievement.

And the reaction wasn’t limited to the television audience.

Online, viewers were quick to praise the young guitarist’s musicianship, vocals and stage presence.

One highly praised YouTube comment captured the reaction particularly well, describing Bay as a kid who “literally rocks” and praising how his stage presence already felt professional.

That is perhaps the most remarkable part of Bay’s AGT journey so far.

The talent is obvious.

But so is the potential.
