A “masterpiece” drama that one fan gave a 100/10 score is streaming for free in the UK. Nowhere Special (2020) tells the story of John (played by James Norton) a window cleaner from Northern Ireland raising his young son Michael (Daniel Lamont) alone after the mother left.
But after being diagnosed with a terminal illness, the devoted dad has to search for a new family to look after Michael. It was written and directed by Uberto Pasolini. A review on In Session Film hailed Nowhere Special as a “masterpiece”. “Pasolini along with his cast and crew earn every moment of investment in John and Michael’s story,” it added. “A profoundly compassionate film which is both heartbreaking and hopeful.”

“James Norton is wonderful in the lead role and the young child, Daniel Lamont playing his son is sensational. It’s hard to believe it’s his first role.
“You feel every moment in this film and imagine yourself in the same predicament. It’s what films should be, engaging, character driven and believable at every stage. It moved me immensely.”
A fourth added: “The direction is great and so is the performance of the lead actors. The sheer grace in telling this hard story is commendable. A must watch, it’s a little gem of a movie.”
The movie has a 12 certificate and features infrequent strong language, upsetting scenes – so viewer discretion is advised.
Nowhere Special was recently added to ITVX, where you can stream it for free (with ads).
