When Gwyneth Paltrow stepped onto the Oscars carpet for the first time in more than a decade, it was not the fabric of her shimmering white gown that turned heads.
Rather, it was the lack thereof.
Her custom strapless Giorgio Armani Privé dress featured thigh-high slits and sheer side paneling that, in a wardrobe malfunction, nearly left her exposed.
In a now-viral clip shared to X, the Marty Supreme star was seen hurriedly making her way through the Dolby Theatre on Sunday evening with her legs on full display beneath the white silk.
But while descending the steps, she lifted the long hem to avoid tripping, and in doing so flashed half of Hollywood. Paltrow, however, seemed unfazed by the mishap as she was guided to another area inside the crowded venue.
Meanwhile, fans were shocked by her skin-baring gown, calling it a ‘red carpet nightmare,’ and some even asked if her dress broke. Others called the high fashion moment ‘inappropriate’ due to her apparent lack of underwear.
Fittingly, a photo that Paltrow shared on Instagram showcasing ‘the weekend’ – and a hint of side derrière – appeared to foreshadow what was to come. In one photo, she stood awkwardly in front of a mirror while trying on the gown as an assistant looked on uncomfortably in the background.
While such a style snafu at Hollywood’s biggest night might have mortified any other A-lister, it seems Paltrow, 53, is an outlier.
As an insider told the Daily Mail, ‘Gwyneth loves her body and thinks she looked hot, she does not give a s**t if anyone thinks she is too old for the dress.’
