A ‘gutsy’ thriller brought to life by Legally Blonde icon Reese Witherspoon is coming sooner than you think. Crime drama fans may have just finished binge-watching Harlan Coben’s I Will Find You on Netflix but now there’s another gripping series coming, this time on Apple TV.
Based on the New York bestseller of the same name by author Marissa Stapley, Lucky is a seven-episode mini-series that’s coming to the streamer next week on Wednesday, July 15. Only the first two episodes of Lucky will be released on this date with the rest of the series coming out every Wednesday. Lucky revolves around the titular “brilliant con artist who goes on the run after a multi-million dollar heist goes wrong.

In the wake of the chaotic con job, Lucky is pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss as she embraces her criminal past in order to fight to survive.
Bringing Lucky to life is none other than actress Anya Taylor-Joy, famed for her Golden Globe-winning role as chess prodigy Beth Harmon in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit.
Some of her other biggest roles have been in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Witch, Peaky Blinders and The Split.
Stapley’s 2021 was selected as a Reese’s Book Club pick, led by Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon, who is also an executive producer for Lucky through her production company Hello Sunshine.
Taylor-Joy shared on This Morning how Witherspoon pictured no one but the 30-year-old to play the role.
“It was so exciting. I got a call saying Reese [Witherspoon] wanted to send me a book and that she wanted to co-produce with me which is obviously the most incredible sentence to hear through a telephone.
“And then when I read the book, I really felt like I had something to add to it which you want to feel as a producer and from that moment on, it’s been the most beautiful collaboration.”

Even before Lucky has been released, the crime drama already has its legion of fans with book fanatics hailing it as an “incredible” read.
Someone posted on Good Reads: “With equally compelling alternate timelines, Stapley takes readers on a gripping, heart-wrenching journey of resilience, hope, and redemption. A stunning read!”
A fellow fan described it as a “real page turner”, as another remarked: “This fast-paced, plot-driven tale is full of unexpected plot twists that’ll keep you guessing about Lucky and the lottery ticket until the very last page.
“Part action-adventure, part family saga, Lucky is full of heart.”
While someone else added: “Finished in less than a day because I just couldn’t put it down!”
Lucky premieres on Wednesday, July 15, on Apple TV.
