‘Wheel of Fortune’: Ryan Seacrest Left Speechless as Contestant Wins an Incredible $138,479
A remarkable Bonus Round performance turned an already impressive game into a life-changing victory on Wheel of Fortune. On the November 5 episode, contestant Luke stunned himself and host Ryan Seacrest by correctly solving the final puzzle despite having very few letters to work with. His unexpected breakthrough earned him a $100,000 bonus, bringing his total winnings to an astonishing $138,479.
Luke Takes an Early Lead

The game began with a Fortune Frenzy puzzle in the “Punctuation” category. Luke and Ashley made early progress, solving three and two puzzles respectively, while Krista was unable to solve any.
Luke carried that momentum into the first main round, where the category was “Famous Duo.” After purchasing all the available vowels, he correctly identified the letters N, D, Y and Z, then completed the puzzle with “Buzz Lightyear and Woody.” The solve pushed his winnings to $6,350.
The next puzzle, under the category “What Are You Doing?”, gave Krista an opportunity to get back into the competition. She found three T’s before purchasing the vowels E, A, I and O. After identifying an H, she decided to take a chance on the Mystery Wedge, which concealed either $10,000 or a Bankrupt.
Fortune was on her side: the wedge revealed $10,000. However, her momentum came to an abrupt stop when she landed on a $3,500 space and guessed R, a letter that did not appear in the puzzle.
Ashley then stepped in, correctly identifying two N’s, two S’s and one G before solving “Flying by the seat of my pants.”
At the end of the round, Luke remained comfortably ahead with $6,350. Ashley had $5,600, while Krista had yet to earn any money.
A Risky Express Wedge Pays Off

The Prize Puzzle round featured the category “Phrase,” and the stakes quickly increased. Ashley began with a Bankrupt, giving Luke an opportunity to take control.
After correctly identifying two T’s, he landed on the Express Wedge. The special space allowed him to earn $1,000 for every consonant he guessed correctly, but it also carried a significant risk: calling a letter that was not in the puzzle would send him straight to Bankrupt.
Luke chose to take the chance. He first purchased four E’s and three A’s, then began revealing the consonants. As more letters appeared, he quickly worked out the phrase and solved “Stranger things have happened.”
The Express Wedge helped him collect a total of $17,300 for the round. He also secured a trip to Germany, Austria and Hungary valued at $7,099, putting him in an even stronger position.
Luke Secures the Game
The Triple Toss-Up category was “Building Words.” All three contestants managed to solve one puzzle apiece, adding $2,000 to each of their totals.
The final puzzle fell under the category “Thing.” Luke opened with a correct T, but the competition remained active as he and Krista subsequently landed on Bankrupt spaces.
Once the Final Spin began, Ashley found one S, Luke identified four N’s, Krista uncovered two R’s and Ashley added two G’s. Luke ultimately worked out the answer, “ringing endorsement,” after correctly guessing I on his next turn.
By the end of regular play, Luke had secured a decisive victory with $38,749. Ashley finished with $7,600, while Krista took home $2,000.
A Few Letters Stand Between Luke and $100,000
With the main game won, Luke advanced to the Bonus Round and selected the “Person” category.
His puzzle appeared as:
_ _ S _ _ _ _ _
He chose M, D, P and O as his additional letters, leaving him with:
_ _ S _ _ O D _
Initially, Luke did not appear certain about the answer. But after thinking it through for just a few seconds, he suddenly came up with the correct solution: “BUSYBODY.”
The unexpected solve left both Luke and Seacrest astonished. The host celebrated the moment, clapping Luke on the back and exclaiming, “Dude, you got it!” before asking, “How did you get there?!”
The excitement grew even further when Seacrest opened the envelope and revealed that Luke had won the $100,000 Bonus Round prize.
“You had very few letters up there, very few clues,” Seacrest observed. “You talked it out, you got there, you shocked yourself, and you’re walking away with $138,479.”
Luke’s remarkable finish transformed a strong performance into an unforgettable Wheel of Fortune victory, with a grand total of $138,479 in cash and prizes.
