In his first press conference since joining the team, Lionel Messi expresses his “extreme happiness” at being with Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi has had explosive start with Inter Miami, scoring at least one goal at every game since joining the soccer club.

Soccer superstar Lionel Messi addressed the media for the first time since joining Inter Miami at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Messi spoke in Spanish with reporters at DRV PNK Stadium for about 15 minutes, saying he was “very happy” about his decision to move to the U.S.

“It was much easier than we thought, because we had had the experience of changing cities from Barcelona to Paris and it had been complicated. This was totally different,” he said.

“Today I can say that I am very happy with the decision we made, not only for sports but for my family, for how we live day to day, for the city and the reception of the people, which was extraordinary not only in Miami but also in the United States in general,” he added. “We are where we wanted to be.”

The press conference comes as Miami is set to take on Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup championship on Saturday.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner scored his ninth goal in six matches with his new team when Miami topped the Philadelphia Union 4-1 in a Leagues Cup semifinal on Tuesday night.
