Ronan Keating’s Daughter Missy Reflects on Parents’ Painful Divorce as Yvonne Connolly Begins a New Chapter

Ronan Keating’s daughter Missy has previously spoken candidly about how she coped with her parents’ highly publicised divorce, revealing that family support and acting became important sources of comfort during a difficult period in her teenage years.

Her comments have resurfaced as her mother, Yvonne Connolly, celebrates a major new chapter in her life. Over the weekend, Yvonne married her partner of 14 years, John Conroy, in New York, with all three of her children with Ronan — Jack, 27, Missy, 25, and Ali, 20 — joining her for the occasion.

Wedding photographs captured the family together in Central Park, years after Ronan and Yvonne navigated the painful end of their marriage in the public eye.

Missy Keating on coping with her parents’ divorce

Ronan and Yvonne’s marriage officially ended in divorce in 2015 after Yvonne discovered that the Boyzone star had been having an affair with a backing dancer.

Missy was 14 when her parents separated, and she later reflected on the experience in a 2019 interview with Sunday Independent’s Life magazine.

Rather than dwelling solely on the difficulties surrounding the breakup, Missy credited the people around her with helping her and her siblings through it.

“I had some really amazing people in my life, and close family that were able to support and distract Jack, Ali and me,” she said. “I always felt loved.”

Acting also became an important emotional outlet during that period.

“Acting was also a great outlet for me, and I’m very grateful for that,” she explained.

Missy embraces her “modern family”

Both of Missy’s parents eventually found new partners.

Ronan married Storm Uechtritz Keating in 2015, while Yvonne went on to build a long-term relationship with John Conroy, whom she has now married after 14 years together.

Speaking in the same 2019 interview, Missy described both John and Storm as positive additions to her life.

“Over the years, more great people have entered my life, like John and Storm, and I now have the most adorable little brother, Cooper,” she said.

“We’re a modern family. I’m a modern girl.”

Her remarks offered an insight into how the Keating children adapted to their changing family circumstances after a challenging period.

Building an identity beyond the Keating name

As she has grown older, Missy has increasingly stepped into the public eye herself.

In 2022, she competed on Dancing with the Stars Ireland alongside professional partner Ervinas Merfeldas, eventually finishing ninth.

That experience also prompted her to discuss what it was like growing up with a famous surname. Although she remains proud of her family, Missy — who was born Marie — said she wanted to establish an identity and career of her own.

“I am so proud of my name – I carry the Keating name with pride,” she told the Irish Mirror. “I love my family and everything they have done.”

At the same time, she acknowledged her desire to create her own path.

“I think in the last while I’ve really wanted to make a mark on the world myself and go my own way. It’s a new age, a new generation.”

Acting has remained part of Missy’s life

The creative outlet that helped Missy during her parents’ separation has continued to play a role in her adult life.

In March 2025, she shared behind-the-scenes photographs from the short film John, which is due for release this year. The film centres on a boy’s romance with an older man, with Missy playing a character named Ali.

Reflecting on the experience after filming, she praised the team behind the project and described how emotional it was to say goodbye to the production.

“Never have I worked with such a passionate team,” she wrote on Instagram, thanking everyone involved for putting their “heart and soul” into the project.

“My heart is a little broken saying goodbye, but here’s to many more with my set family ‘JOHN’,” she added.

Jack and Ali are forging their own paths too

Missy isn’t the only one of Ronan and Yvonne’s children to establish a life in the spotlight.

Her older brother Jack appeared on Love Island in 2022 and later returned for Love Island All Stars earlier this year. His latest stint ended on day 26 when he and his partner, Sher Suarez, were dumped from the villa.

Their younger sister Ali, meanwhile, has pursued a very different passion.

Ali is a champion showjumper who first rode a horse at five years old before getting what she described as the “horsey bug” at 11.

Now, years after the Keating children experienced their parents’ separation under intense public attention, all three were together again to support their mother as she married John in New York.

For Missy in particular, the occasion adds another chapter to the “modern family” she spoke about years ago — one that has changed considerably since her teenage years, while remaining surrounded by the people she credits with making sure she always felt loved.
