As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare to return to Britain with their children, almost every move inside the Royal Family is being examined for signs of how the Sussexes will be received.

Yet one senior royal has conspicuously stayed out of the conversation.

Princess Anne has issued no public criticism, no dramatic warning and no statement about Harry and Meghan’s impending return. While that absence of comment has inevitably fueled speculation, there is no verified evidence that the Princess Royal has publicly condemned the couple’s decision.

Instead, Anne appears to be doing exactly what she has done throughout decades of royal life: carrying on with her duties while keeping private family matters away from public view.

Harry and Meghan Prepare to Return to Britain

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to return to the UK later this month, six years after stepping back from senior royal duties and beginning a new life in the United States.

Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, have already been enrolled in British schools and are expected to begin the new academic year in September.

Harry and Meghan are understood to be planning to establish themselves in a private, non-royal residence outside London.

Their move does not represent a return to life as working royals. There has been no indication that the couple will resume official duties or revive the “half-in, half-out” arrangement that was rejected following their departure from royal life in 2020.

Even so, relocating the family to Britain represents a significant change.

According to the BBC, Charles learned of the decision on Sunday, while Prince William and Catherine were also informed before the announcement became public.

The development therefore does not signal that Harry and Meghan are being brought back into the working monarchy.

They will continue their lives as private individuals and non-working royals while establishing a new home in Britain.

What will change is their proximity to the family.

Harry and Meghan’s decision has immediately brought several unresolved royal relationships back into focus.

One concerns Harry and his father.
