Céline Dion makes emotional return to concert stage after nearly six years - Yahoo Style Canada

For the first time in more than six years, Céline Dion stood on a concert stage for a full show — and the emotion was impossible to hide.

The Canadian superstar returned to live performing on Saturday, September 12, 2026, taking the stage at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris, for her first full concert since March 2020.

It marked the beginning of a new series of performances in the Paris area, giving fans a long-awaited chance to see the 58-year-old singer perform live again after years of health struggles.

And from the very first song, the significance of the night was clear.

An Emotional Start To A Long-Awaited Return

Dion opened the concert with On ne change pas.

But within the opening moments, she had to pause, visibly overcome with emotion.

After years away from the stage, she took a moment to acknowledge the audience before thanking them for standing by her during her absence.

The concert then continued with a set largely performed in French, featuring some of the singer’s best-known songs, including Pour que tu m’aimes encore, All By Myself and My Heart Will Go On.

For fans who had waited years to see her perform a full concert again, the night represented far more than another appearance.

It was a return to something that had once seemed uncertain.

Six Years Away From The Stage

Celine Dion Couldn't Get Through Paris Show Without Crying

Dion’s last full concert before her Paris comeback was in Newark, United States, in March 2020.

Since then, her career has been dramatically affected by her health.

In December 2022, the singer revealed that she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that can cause severe muscle spasms.

She subsequently canceled several dates from her Courage tour while undergoing treatment, as well as vocal and physical rehabilitation.

Although Dion made occasional appearances during those years, a full concert remained out of reach.

One of her most memorable returns came at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games in July 2024, when she delivered a highly anticipated performance.

But Nanterre was different.

This time, she was back for an entire concert.

A New Chapter In Paris

Saturday night’s performance is the first in a series of shows scheduled in Nanterre through October 17, with additional performances planned for 2027.

The return therefore marks more than a single emotional evening.

It signals the beginning of a new chapter in Dion’s relationship with the stage after a period in which her ability to perform was overshadowed by uncertainty surrounding her health.

For the audience inside the arena, the opening seconds of On ne change pas captured the weight of everything that had happened since they last saw her perform a full show.

After years of treatment, rehabilitation and limited public appearances, Céline Dion was finally standing in front of a concert crowd again — and this time, she stayed for the whole show.
