The Voice fans are already talking about 19-year-old Alabama singer Joe Henley after his powerful Blind Audition on the Season 30 premiere.

Henley took the stage Monday night and performed Travis Tritt’s “Anymore,” hoping to impress both Kelly Clarkson and first-time coach Riley Green. Before his audition, Henley admitted he was a Riley Green fan and said he wanted to see “new blood Riley Green and Kelly Clarkson go at it.”

He got exactly what he wanted.

As soon as Henley started singing, both Clarkson and Green turned their chairs. The moment was even more impressive because Henley revealed that he had “never done a gig” before appearing on The Voice.

“That’s my boy right there,” Green said with a grin. “…Let’s just talk like it’s me and you here.”

“I think it is,” Clarkson joked. “He was singing it to you! Quit looking at him!”

“It’s his eyes. I can’t help it,” Henley replied.

Clarkson then tried to steal Henley’s attention by standing in front of him and putting on a cowboy hat as she made her pitch.

“I have won this show, man, with country singers. Plural!” she said. “Where do you think all the country singers are gonna go? Riley Green! Wouldn’t it be incredible to be the only country superstar on my team.”

But Green had another move ready. After asking Henley about his favorite artists, he learned that “My Way” was the teenager’s favorite Riley song. Green then grabbed his guitar and joined Henley on stage for an unexpected duet.

The two took turns singing “My Way,” giving fans one of the premiere’s most talked-about moments.

When Adam Levine finally asked Henley which coach he would choose, the teenager had his answer.

“I love you Ms. Kelly, so much, I promise, but I’m gonna go with Mr. Riley Green,” Henley said.

Green was thrilled to land his first team member of Season 30, while Clarkson took the loss in good spirits.

“He could win you The Voice,” she told Green. “He didn’t even look at me. He was locking eyes [with Riley], like didn’t even see me. It was like junior high all over again.”

Green also made his Season 30 strategy clear.

“My strategy is to get as many country artists as I can. I want to get all of them, because I think there’s a great chance of a country music artist winning this whole show.”

Fans online quickly joined the conversation, with many comparing Henley’s deep country voice to singers including Josh Turner, Scotty McCreery, Randy Travis and Chris Young. Some were already calling him a potential winner, while others praised his first-ever performance.
