Dollywood Sisters Earn the First Four-Chair Turn of ‘The Voice’ Season 30

Ferryn and Brinkley Wright made The Voice history on the Season 30 premiere, becoming the first act of the season to earn a four-chair turn.

The sisters, who are 20 and 17, respectively, come from Sevierville, Tennessee — Dolly Parton’s hometown — and both perform full-time at Dollywood. Their connection to the country icon made their Blind Audition even more meaningful: Ferryn revealed before taking the stage that she had previously sung alongside Parton, while both sisters had also marched with her in the Dollywood parade before the legendary singer’s death.

Then they stepped onto The Voice stage and delivered a performance that had all four coaches reaching for their buttons.

Ferryn and Brinkley Turn Four Chairs

For their Blind Audition, Ferryn and Brinkley chose Linda Ronstadt’s “When Will I Be Loved.”

Their harmonies immediately caught the coaches’ attention, with all four turning their chairs and setting up the first major four-way battle of Season 30.

With the sisters suddenly able to choose from every team, each coach made their case for why Ferryn and Brinkley should join them.

Adam Levine reminded them that he is the reigning champion and has already experienced significant success on the show.

Queen Latifah, making her debut as a coach, told the sisters she could envision them winning The Voice and taking their careers even further.

“They are a world that I want to live in,” Queen said.

Riley Green connected with the sisters’ sound on a more personal level, saying their performance was the first audition of the season that took him back to his childhood.

“Y’all’s voices go so well together. It’s got that old school country music feel, which it’s such a great time to be that right now,” Green said. “Congrats to y’all for having that sound because it’s really making a comeback.”

Riley Green Makes His Case

Green also highlighted his experience working with successful duet partners as he tried to convince Ferryn and Brinkley to join his team.

He pointed to his collaboration with Ella Langley on “You Look Like You Love Me,” explaining that the young country singer reminded him of the sisters.

“I’ve had a little success with duets,” Green said. “There’s a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me. Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well.”

The pitch came as Green entered his first season as a The Voice coach, making the sisters an especially significant addition to his team.

Kelly Clarkson also had a unique argument of her own. She reminded Ferryn and Brinkley that she is the only coach to have previously won the competition with a group, after sibling trio Girl Named Tom won Season 21 under her guidance.

The Sisters Choose Team Riley

After hearing from all four coaches, Ferryn and Brinkley ultimately decided to join Team Riley.

For Green, landing the sisters was a major moment.

“I’m so excited I got Ferryn and Brinkley. They’re so talented vocally because of what they can do harmony-wise. To be able to get them on my team definitely makes me feel like I’ve got an edge,” he said.

The other coaches appeared to recognize the challenge of competing with Green for country singers.

Kelly Clarkson summed up the difficulty with a joke about Green’s appeal: “Riley has some kind of vampire, glamour, cowboy crap that I cannot fight.”

For Ferryn and Brinkley, the four-chair turn marked a memorable beginning to their The Voice journey. Coming from Dolly Parton’s hometown and bringing their experience from Dollywood to the stage, the sisters now move forward as members of Team Riley.
