More than 20 years after Brad Paisley first recorded Whiskey Lullaby with Alison Krauss, the emotional country classic has found a new voice.

Paisley originally released the song on his 2003 album Mud on the Tires. Written by country music legend Bill Anderson and Jon Randall, Whiskey Lullaby quickly became one of the most memorable songs from the album thanks to its heartbreaking story.

The song later earned a major honor when it won the CMA Award for Song of the Year in 2005.

Now, Paisley is giving fans a new version of the beloved song during his 2026 tour, this time with American Idol Season 24 winner Hannah Harper.

Hannah Harper Joins Brad Paisley For Moving Duet Of "Whiskey Lullaby"

Harper has had a huge year since winning American Idol. The young singer-songwriter has taken several important steps in her music career, including signing with 19 Recordings and Atlantic Records and joining major talent agency WME for global representation.

She has also made her Grand Ole Opry debut and has been joining Paisley on the road as an opening act and featured performer during his 2026 tour.

One of the most memorable moments came on August 27 at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Paisley began performing Whiskey Lullaby by himself. But as he moved through the opening verse, Harper suddenly joined him onstage and added her voice to the emotional performance.

The two singers then shared the song together, giving the classic duet a fresh sound. Their voices worked together as they delivered the sad story, with the crowd waiting for each line to unfold.

Paisley has performed Whiskey Lullaby with several other female country singers over the years, including Avery Anna and Alexandra Kay. But seeing him perform the song with Harper was especially meaningful as the young singer continues to build her own career.

For Harper, the performance was another major moment in a year filled with new opportunities.

The original recording with Krauss became a major part of Paisley’s career. Now, more than 20 years later, Harper is helping bring the emotional song to a new generation of country fans.
