Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Luxurious Private Jet as the Sussexes Return to Britain Six Years After Moving to the US

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the UK, marking another major turning point for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex six years after they stepped away from royal life and relocated to the United States.

According to The Telegraph, the couple landed at Birmingham Airport around lunchtime on Wednesday, August 26. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are believed to have travelled with them as the family prepares to spend an extended period in Britain.

Their journey from California was made aboard a private jet offering considerably more space and comfort than a typical transatlantic flight.

Inside the Sussexes’ Luxury Flight to Britain

The aircraft used for the journey can reportedly accommodate up to 13 passengers. For overnight travel, its cabin can be reconfigured to provide sleeping arrangements including a double bed and individual beds.

The interior also features plush leather seating, a sofa and two spacious bathrooms supplied with branded amenities.

There is room for up to 15 suitcases, although the Sussexes may need additional arrangements to transport their belongings if they are establishing a longer-term base in Britain.

Such comfort comes at a substantial price. According to estimates cited in the original report, a private flight between Los Angeles and the UK can cost approximately £150,000 to £200,000.

Private Jets Have Featured in Previous Sussex Journeys

This is not the first time Harry and Meghan have used private aviation for an important journey between Britain and North America.

Their departure from the UK six years ago was documented in the couple’s 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan. Footage showed the spacious aircraft carrying Harry, Meghan and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Their dogs also travelled aboard the plane, with enough room to move around the cabin and rest in their own beds, while the family had private seating areas.

Harry and Meghan were also reported to have travelled by private jet when they returned to Britain for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. That journey marked their children’s first long-haul trip to the UK.

Where Will Harry and Meghan Stay?

One significant detail remains private: exactly where the Sussex family will establish themselves following their arrival.

Their accommodation has not been publicly confirmed, reportedly for security reasons, although the Cotswolds has been suggested as a possible location.

Another possibility raised in reports is Althorp, the Northamptonshire estate belonging to Harry’s uncle, Earl Charles Spencer. Harry has a deeply personal connection to the estate, which was the childhood home of his late mother, Princess Diana, and where she is buried.

Harry reportedly visited Althorp earlier this summer.

King Charles Is Currently in Scotland

The Sussexes’ arrival comes while King Charles and other members of the royal family are spending their traditional summer period in Scotland.

The family typically gathers at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire during this part of the year. Reports have indicated that Prince William and King Charles were both in Scotland when news emerged of Harry and Meghan’s plans to relocate.

There has been no confirmation that Harry has been invited to Balmoral following his arrival.

For now, the family’s destination after Birmingham remains undisclosed. But their arrival on British soil — aboard a private aircraft reportedly offering beds, spacious bathrooms and room for up to 13 passengers — represents a notably luxurious beginning to their latest chapter in the UK.
